A Message From Brian Reid, President of Alumicor
March 18, 2020
Dear Valued Partner:
Alumicor continues to maintain a vigilant stance on the safety of our employees, customers and vendors. The further spread of COVID-19 and updates from the World Health Organization (WHO), and the Canadian Public Health Services have resulted in the need for Alumicor to implement additional measures to limit social interaction, ensure safety and minimize spread of the virus. We want to communicate with you some of the actions we are implementing.
Alumicor Social Distancing Plan:
Sales and Customer Service
We have restricted travel for our employees and are migrating our office workforce to a “work from home” scenario. This will mean interaction with your Alumicor outside sales team members will rely more heavily on communications via phone, email and text messaging instead of client office visits. We will rely on our strong relationships with you over the next number of weeks to interact remotely.
While our Customer service people are working from home, they will have all the same capabilities they had in the office environment and we do not anticipate any customer impact.
Operations and Supply Chain
We are continuing to run all fabrication sites and do not anticipate any customer impact. However, we are preparing to migrate fabrication activities should we have a circumstance that requires us to temporarily cease operations in any one of our locations.
Our vendor supply is currently in good shape but we are again preparing, should we have trouble from some of our vendors in the future. We have increased efforts to have alternative suppliers for select items. We do not anticipate broad delays to our schedules but we have experienced minor delays on specific custom orders.
Shipping and Receiving
Customer pickups, common carrier pickups, and customer and vendor drop offs are continuing to take place. We have, however, restricted access to inside our facilities. We request that customer’s drivers remain in their vehicles while they are picking up orders. Vendors are permitted to drop off items at receiving but are not permitted to enter facilities. Paperwork will be brought to their vehicles by ALUMICOR once the shipment is loaded or unloaded.
We are temporarily stopping visits to our facilities. If you believe there is a special circumstance that requires a facility or office visit please contact your local sales representative to discuss options.
At this time, we do not anticipate an increase to our lead-times as a result of the COVID-19 virus. We are monitoring the situation carefully and will continue to communicate as necessary. Please inquire for specialty products.
Construction Project Schedules:
We are expecting some projects will experience schedule delays or changes due to the current situation and we appreciate proactive communication with us so we can plan accordingly to minimize any disruption to you.
We welcome your questions and feedback as events are changing rapidly. It is Alumicor’s desire to keep you informed of actions taking place on our end.
Please continue to take the appropriate safety measures that protect your employees, families and businesses.
